11th Mile

From the farmer's hands to your kitchen.

Spices and staples sourced directly from tribal farmers and FPOs of Araku, Paderu, Manyam, Anantapur and the Seshachalam hills — each lot graded for the dish it suits best.

Why the right lot matters

The last mile is where trust is made.

Most of what reaches your kitchen has passed through many hands, and the farmer's name is lost along the way. The 11th mile is the stretch we chose to walk ourselves: the hill road, the village, the drying yard, the family that grew it.

We buy directly from farmers and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), pay them fairly, and pack in small retail batches with as little processing as the food allows. The packaging is plain on purpose. The story is in the product.

What makes us different

The right lot for the right use.

Two lots of the same tamarind can make very different sambar. So we test every lot before it is packed, and tell you on the pack what it does best in your kitchen.

Plain pack. Rich story.

Our packs are plain on purpose: amber glass jars for spices, kraft pouches for staples, and the same handmade-paper label on every one.

  • On the front — the name, the weight and what it is best for.
  • On the back — the grower's story, ingredients and the lot window.
  • In the lot window — a QR code that opens this exact lot's farm, growers and tests.

From the hills and dry lands of Andhra Pradesh.

Every lot carries the name of the place it came from. We go to tribal pockets and farming belts where good food is still grown the old way.

Araku & Paderu

Tribal hamlets of the Eastern Ghats, where adivasi families grow spices and crops on mist-covered hill slopes, often under shade, with little more than rain and compost.

Tribal farmers

Manyam

Remote tribal belts of the Manyam hills. We work with local farmers and community groups so that fair value stays in the villages that grow the food.

Tribal farmers & FPOs

Anantapur

Dry-land farms in Rayalaseema, where growers use organic methods and the crops are tough, honest and full of flavour.

Organically sourced

Seshachalam hills

Forest-edge communities of the Seshachalam range, who grow and gather with a deep respect for the land that feeds them.

Hill communities

Five steps between the farm and your pantry.

Grown

Farmers grow with care, using traditional and organic practices.

Sourced

We buy directly from farmers and FPOs, with no middle layers.

Gently processed

Cleaned, dried and milled with as little handling as needed.

Checked & graded

Every lot is tested, graded for its best use and given its own QR code.

Packed with care

Sealed in small retail packs, in plain minimal packaging.

The 11th Mile range.

Seventeen products, one label. Spices come in amber glass jars, staples in kraft pouches. Under each one: what it does best.

Traceable to the farm

Scan your pack.

Every lot gets its own QR code, printed in the lot window on the back of the pack.

  1. Scan the QR code with your phone camera, or type the lot code below.
  2. See the village and the growers, the price we paid them, and how that lot was processed and tested.
  3. Find out what that lot is best for, and how to use it.

Simple food, held to a high standard.

Minimally processed

No colour, no fillers, no polishing, no shortcuts. Our turmeric is just turmeric, high in curcumin and true to its origin.

Traceable

Every lot has its own QR code. Scan it to see where your food came from and which community grew it.

Fair to farmers

Direct buying means farmers and FPOs earn more of what you pay, and are named, not hidden.

Grown with care. Sourced with respect.
